I am a happy camper.

I now have this massive obsession eith Etsy. I'm on the forums nearly all day, posting and promoting my shop. I love it! It's so much fun! Not only that, but just one day after I create my shop I received my first sale! I feel so happy to know that others are interested in my items. I've been attending craft shows for years and no one seemed intereseted in the work I had to offer. It seems as though I've found my little place to share and talk about what I create with others accross the globe. Go Etsy!

Today will also be the day where I will officially release my blog to the rest of the Etsy community. I'd love it if you added me! :)

Happy shopping/selling, my dear Etsians!

It's Etsy Time!

My dear non-existant blog viewers,
This weekend will be my last few days of spring break. It's been wonderful having the opportunity to relax a little before going back to loads of studying and projects galore. Earlier in the week I flew back to Illinois to visit family, see Prince (my English Springer Spaniel) and Floppy (my rabbit who we've had for 6 years and do not yet know the gender of). I arrived back in Arizona late Tuesday night and had intentions of catching up on school work throughout the rest of the week, but I instead sat around, twiddeled my thumbs and simply did nothing other than create a shop on http://www.etsy.com/. I've been wanting to do this for ages, but I was hesitating because of the listing fees associated with the site. It's only $00.20 per item, but as a broke college student, money is tight and I didn't feel as though trying to sell some of my crafts for a few dollars seemed like a good investment.
Oh well, I opened a shop anyway and posted some items as well as talked with a few other members in the forums! They have a wonderful community and everyone I met was friendly and helpful. I felt quite welcome! :)

Work, work, and more work.

Work, work, work! It's all that I seem to be doing nowadays...and I don't mean the kind of work where you get paid, either! I'm talking about *gulp* SCHOOL. The first semester of college seemed to have gone by much more smoothly. My design and business courses are becoming so demanding. Does anyone know accounting by any chance? I find it strange that I'm doing so poorly in accounting because I love math! I guess every hero must have at least one weakness, no? :)

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi since it's been a while. Unfortunately I haven't had any time to work on Shoebox21 Designs. Let's hope I find some time here and there. I also wanted to share with you some of the work I've been doing in class. These drawings were scanned in from my original work drawn using Prismacolor markers. Enjoy!

A Crafty Business

Hello! This whole week has been absolutely freezing here in Illinois. The current temperature is -10 degrees (NOT including the windchill!). It's been snowing quite a lot as well and nearly 10 inches are covering the ground. I figure: If it's going to be cold, at least it should snow! I'm happy that I don't have to do much around here. It's much more pleasant looking out at the snow from a comfortable home than being anywhere else.

In other news, I've been making great strides with my business, Shoebox21 Designs. Since I'm officially starting it up again, I've been busy setting up a business account with my bank, promoting some of my items on other sites (i.e. Crobbies, ShopHandmade), and still working on my own site as well. It's coming along slowly but surely. I'm hoping that I'll have most of everything completed before school begins. I hope to list my designs on Etsy as well, but I'm a little hesitant since there's a listing fee (and unfortunately, money doesn't grow on trees).

Check out my online shops when you get the chance! Let me know what you think!

Happy (late) New Year

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday and New Year! Luckily for me, though, I still have two more weeks until I have to go back to class. I've been spending my time off by relaxing with family and friends, as well as doing some sight seeing. Last week I visited the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix, Arizona. The weather was beautiful and I took some rather stunning photographs of pieces of blown glass that were integrated into the landscape and photos of the landscape itself. Aren't these Chihuly sculptures pretty?

Now I'm currently visiting family in Illinois. It's wonderful seeing my parents. My mom also loves to craft, so I'm sure that we'll be doing lots of it for the next two weeks!
